Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence urged disaffected Republican voters to “come home” and vote for Donald Trump, at a rally in Ohio on Tuesday.
Pence’s “come home” message to Republicans has become a recurring theme on the campaign trail in recent days, as the Indiana governor has sought to drive up turnout among the party’s conservative base.
“It’s time to talk to our Republican friends here in Ohio and to say with one voice: It’s time to come home,” Pence said in Ashland on Tuesday. “This is not the time to make a statement, it’s the time to make a difference.”
He continued, “It’s time for Republican voters to come home. Come home to elect the Trump-Pence team. Come home to re-elect Sen. Rob Portman and Republican majorities in the House and the Senate. And come home to make sure that Hillary Clinton is never elected president of the United States of America. It’s time to come home.”
Pence has stressed his belief that Trump can still emerge victorious in next month’s election while campaigning in Ohio and has compared Trump’s strategy to that of President Truman during his 1948 re-election bid.
