Former MLB outfielder Johnny Damon was arrested in Florida after police said he was driving with a blood-alcohol level more than twice the legal limit.
Damon, who was a prominent player with the Boston Red Sox, was booked on Friday morning outside of Orlando and charged with driving under the influence and resisting an officer without violence. His wife, Michelle Mangan-Damon, was also arrested and charged with resisting an officer with violence and battery of a law enforcement officer.
Police said Damon, 47, was pulled over at around 1:30 a.m. after swerving and hitting a curb and guardrail. Damon told officers he would perform a sobriety test multiple times because he is a “big boy,” WESH, an NBC affiliate, reported.
Damon had a blood-alcohol level above .20, according to police reports cited by CBS Miami. The legal limit to drive in Florida is only .08 for people 21 and older.
