[WATCH] Sesame Street parody of Homeland, ‘Homelamb’, portrays Nick Brody as wolf in sheep’s clothing

If you watch the Showtime series Homeland, you know that protagonist Carrie Mathison initially suspects that Nicholas Brody may be a wolf in sheep’s clothing. What else but Sesame Street could take that metaphor and turn it into a brilliant parody?

The long-running children’s program — which also has had some fun with television programs Mad Men and Sons of Anarchy in the past — released a video Monday morning entitled ‘Homelamb’ that casts Carrie as the world’ most convincing bipolar sheep, Nick as ‘Nicholas Baaaa-rody’, and Saul as Mandy Patinkin. (Really, the sheep playing Saul is a dead-ringer as far as animal puppet portrayals of human characters go.) The parody is an 11 on the 10-scale for cleverness, and the lines deliver even more.

“Have you ever heard a sheep howl?” Carrie asks her colleauges in reference to Brody, wondering whether or not he actually is the Big Bad Wolf.

“So he speaks other languages,” the lamb equivalent of who we only can assume is Carrie’s boss in the show, David Harewood, responds.

(The hat tip for the video goes to USA Today and subsequently Red Alert’s own Kelsey Osterman for the find.)
