Sen. Rand Paul won the 2015 CPAC Straw Poll Saturday.
The Kentucky Republican was trailed by Gov. Scott Walker, Sen. Ted Cruz, Ben Carson and former Gov. Jeb Bush.
Organizers of the annual Conservative Political Action Conference, a massive gathering of conservative voters in a hotel outside of Washington, D.C., announced the results of the straw poll Saturday. The poll is generally seen as barometer of support for potential Republican presidential candidates.
There were 17 names on the ballot, including Walker, former Texas Gov. Rick Perry and businesswoman Carly Fiorina.
The New York Times reported Friday that Bush’s team organized for some of his supporters to be bussed into the convention, leading some on the right to speculate that Bush didn’t have much grassroots support at the conference.
There has not been a straw poll winner not named Rand Paul, Ron Paul or Mitt Romney since 2006, when former Virginia Sen. George Allen won the contest.
