Two men were killed and another left in critical condition after a shooting in Northwest D.C. early Saturday.

D.C. police said the shooting happened on the 1400 block of Parkwood Place NW at about 6 a.m.

Two adult men were shot in the head, Ward 1 Councilman Jim Graham wrote in a message on the Columbia Heights neighborhood listserv. The two were pronounced dead at the scene, said Officer Anthony Clay, a District police spokesman.

It is not clear what happened to the third man, who remains in critical condition.

The victims’ names and ages were not released and Clay said no arrests have been made. Authorities said a motive in the slaying is still being investigated, but gambling may have been involved, according to Graham.

The slayings happened about a half-mile north of the Columbia Heights Metro station and D.C. USA shopping center.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call D.C. police at 202-727-9099.
