Senate Republican leaders are expected to issue a revised healthcare reform plan Monday that would address those with healthcare coverage gaps by imposing a six-month delay, according to a GOP aide.
Republicans are working on revisions to their discussion draft that was released last week and attracted tepid support from most GOP senators and opposition from five Republicans, easily enough to sink the bill.
The coverage delay is aimed at encouraging people to remain insured, rather than jumping off until they get sick, which has driven up the cost of health insurance under Obamacare.
The Congressional Budget Office is expected to release a report later on Monday that would show how much the GOP plan would cost and how many people would receive coverage under the legislation.
