Leesburg couple freed after hours-long standoff
An elderly couple was freed late Friday and a suspect taken into custody after a lengthy hostage situation, officials said.
At about 11:30 a.m. Friday, a suspect fled the scene of an armed robbery and entered a private home in Leesburg, where he took the keys to a Jeep Grand Cherokee. The suspect then abandoned the vehicle at about 2 p.m. and barricaded himself into a home in the 700 block of Valley View Avenue, taking two hostages.
The hostages were released late Friday night and authorities took into custody the suspect, identified as 49-year-old William Spencer of Baltimore. – David Sherfinski

Accused Holocaust Museum shooter still can’t get to court
The 88-year-old man accused of shooting a guard to death at the Holocaust Museum last month still is too unhealthy to get to court, his attorney said.
James von Brunn’s attorney, A.J. Kramer, told a judge Friday that the white supremacist’s condition had not changed much and remains bedridden.

D.C. man charged with killing baby in Suitland
A 21-year-old District man has been accused of killing an 8-month-old boy last year during a spray of gunfire in Suitland apartment complex parking lot.
Karon Clifton Wilson was arrested in Charles County and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of Anthony Maurice Savoy III on Sept. 3.
Anthony was in a car seat when police say Wilson opened fire at the boy’s 22-year-old father with an assault-style rifle. The father was injured in the attack. – Freeman Klopott
