Trump to push for ‘stronger military’

Donald Trump says he’s about to start pushing for a stronger U.S. military now that he’s through the primaries and about to take on Hillary Clinton in the general election.

“You seemed to indicate a moment ago in response to another question that you are going to do a pivot after the primaries,” Cal Thomas said in an interview posted Wednesday. “What would that look like?”

“I think it’s going to be a pivot of spirit for the country, a period of smart deals for the country, a stronger military. Our military has been so badly depleted,” Trump responded. “Who would think the United States is raiding plane graveyards to pick up parts and equipment? That means they’re being held together by a shoestring. Other countries have brand-new stuff they have bought from us.”

Trump was referring to the comments from Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich., earlier this week and a report from House Speaker Paul Ryan’s office noting Marines and Air Force pilots had stripped aircraft parts from museums and were attaching them planes currently in use.
