Two solid wins have helped the George Washington women bounce back from last week’s demoralizing loss to No. 5 Rutgers. But the Colonials (5-1) continue to face a barrage of early-season obstacles, the most recent being injuries to starters Antelia Parrish (McNamara High) and Whitney Allen (Woodbridge High).
Both Parrish (ankle) and Allen (finger) are listed as questionable for tonight’s visit at James Madison in Harrisonburg, Va.
“Antelia is day-to-day,” said Colonials head coach Joe McKeown. “Whitney’s probably a little bit longer than that.”
In their absence, reserves Jazmine Adair (Anacostia High), Lisa Steele and Stefani Munro all made their first starts of the year during last weekend’s Thanksgiving tournament.
The undefeated Dukes (4-0) haven’t played since Nov. 18, while George Washington is in the midst of a nine-game stretch over the season’s first 22 days (one game every 2.4 days). The schedule will lighten next month, with the Colonials playing just four times from Dec. 2 to Jan. 2, including two 10-day breaks.
Note » George Washington senior guard Kimberly Beck was named Atlantic 10 player of the week.
