Sanders beats Clinton in Maine

Bernie Sanders continued to have a good weekend against Hillary Clinton with a win in the Maine caucuses Sunday.

Turnout was higher than expected. The Vermont senator previously won Kansas and Nebraska this weekend, gaining some momentum after a disappointing Super Tuesday.

Sanders was demolished in the South Carolina primary last weekend and in Louisiana on Saturday.

Questions linger about Sanders’ actual viability at this point, as he trails Clinton 2 to 1 in the delegate count.

The Clinton camp will point out that Sanders has merely won a bordering state to his home state of Vermont, and continues to mostly place well in heavily white states like Kansas, Nebraska and Maine.

Sanders lags badly with Clinton with the black vote.

Still, the strong weekend for Sanders means he’ll hang around a while longer, denying Clinton a chance to sew up the nomination earlier.

Sanders has continually insisted he still has a viable path to the nomination, and appears poised to press forward.
