This behavior is beyond the point

Women’s Professional Soccer thought it found a savior in Dan Borislow when he bought the Washington Freedom. But all it has gotten since is a headache.

On Thursday, WPS hit back at Borislow’s relocated club in South Florida, taking the rare step of docking the undefeated magicJack (3-0) a point in the standings for not providing game footage for other teams to scout. It was the latest in a series of escalating disciplinary measures for infractions such as not making players available to the media after a match.

Seven members of the recently named U.S. team for the Women’s World Cup play for magicJack. One of those is goalkeeper Hope Solo, who started a furor at the World Cup four years ago by speaking out in the media after getting benched.

She hit out on Twitter at WPS on Thursday.

“It gets confusing what’s allowed to fall under the radar and then suddenly what’s being punished,” Solo said. “… I truly am glad everyone else can have comfort in the point being taken away.”
