Retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn shared a video of his grandson reciting the Pledge of Allegiance in his first public statement since the Department of Justice dropped the criminal charges against him.
The Justice Department moved to drop the criminal charges against Flynn in a court filing submitted Thursday. Flynn pleaded guilty in 2017 to lying to the FBI about his conversations with a Russian diplomat before President Trump entered the White House but changed his plea and argued the FBI mistreated him.
On Thursday afternoon, Flynn took to Twitter for the first time since the charges were dropped and shared a 23-second video of his grandson.

Flynn’s lawyers alleged that recently released FBI records provided exculpatory evidence that they say shouldn’t be hidden from the defense team. The documents appear to show that then-FBI agent Peter Strzok and other top FBI leaders stopped the bureau from closing its investigation into Flynn in early January 2017, after investigators had uncovered “no derogatory information” on him.
Last month, FBI notes were released that showed an agent talked about whether the goal of a late January 2017 interview was to get Flynn to tell the truth or to catch him in a lie so that they could prosecute him.
