Clinton staffer jokes over secretary’s ‘doctor admirer’

Hillary Clinton had her fair share of fans and strong admirers during her State Department days.

In newly released emails from Clinton’s private server, the former secretary of state’s Chief of Staff Cheryl Mills called Dr. Anthony Fauci her “doctor admirer,” hinting that his praise of her Benghazi testimony before Congress in January 2013 was not unordinary.

“Anyone who had doubts about the Secretary’s stamina and capability following her illness had those doubts washed away by today’s performance before the Senate and the House. She faced extremely difficult circumstances at the Hearings and still she hit it right out of the park. Please tell her that we all love her and are very proud to know her,” said Fauci, an internationally recognized doctor for his HIV/AIDS work who is also director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

One month earlier, Clinton had been hospitalized for a blood clot in her right transverse venous sinus, the result of a concussion she sustained from fainting in November.

In the 5,500 pages of emails released Thursday, a number of Democratic individuals — both federal employees and NGO workers — reached out to her staff to express their strong support for Clinton’s work.
