» Last year’s winner, John Itati, crossed the finish line in  2:16:24. The women’s winner was Gladys Asiba, who clocked a 2:36:27.

» Itati, a Kenyan, holds the course record of 2:14:51, which he set in 2004.

» Vic Nelson won the inaugural “Maryland Marathon” in 1973 in 2:22:56. The race was known as the “Maryland Marathon” until 1989.

» The inaugural Baltimore Running Festival was held in 2001, with 4,837 runners. This year’s maximum fields are set at 4,000 for the full marathon, 7,500 for the half-marathon, 1,500 for the 5K run, and 750 teams for the team relay.

» The highest point on the course is at mile 2.25, which is 245 feet above sea level. The course is generally flat from miles seven to 15.

» The total purse for the marathon is $125,000, an increase of $10,000 from last year.
