Mook fears Hillary campaign ‘knocked off our game’

Reeling from health concerns about their candidate, the Clinton campaign is urging supporters to cough up $2.5 million to prove that “we haven’t been knocked off our game.”

In an urgent email, campaign manager Robby Mook warned that Donald Trump is on a roll and the only way to show some vigor is to top his end-of-the-month fundraising figures.

“If we hit that benchmark, it will send a message that we haven’t been knocked off our game,” wrote Mook in his email that also took a harsh shot at NBC Today show co-host Matt Lauer. See it in full below:

Last week, we learned that Trump’s fundraising is surging — he and the GOP raked in $90 million in August.

We also saw a perfect example of the way that the media have failed to hold him accountable — when Matt Lauer let Trump lie about his opposition to the war in Iraq in a broadcast watched by 15 million people.

And we’ve seen that Trump’s poll numbers are on the rise — CNN showed Trump ahead nationally for the first time in months, and in crucial states like Nevada (where NBC has Trump with a one-point lead) and Florida (where CBS has our lead down to two points).

There’s no denying that he’s enjoyed a good string of headlines recently, but this week, we can help to deliver some bad news for Trump.

On Thursday, we have our mid-month fundraising deadline. We’ve set an aggressive goal of 2.5 million donors by the end of the month to get our campaign where it needs to be — can you chip in for the first time and join our team today? We’ll send you a free sticker as a thank you.

If we hit that benchmark, it will send a message that we haven’t been knocked off our game. But even more than that, this fundraising total will determine how much we can spend on ad buys and dictate how many people we can dispatch to key battleground states where Trump is making noise (like Nevada and Florida, for instance).

From right now until the end of the month, we need to bring in a total of 2.5 million donors to this campaign — and to hit that goal, we need 283 new donors from your area today. Will you be one of them?

Thank you,

Robby
