Trump camp explains Obama half-brother debate invitation: ‘We’re very inclusive’

Donald Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway said the campaign is bringing President Obama’s half-brother Malik to Wednesday night’s debate simply because he “wanted to come.”

Conway told MSNBC’s Stephanie Rhule that they invited Malik Obama to the Wednesday debate in Las Vegas because the campaign is “very inclusive” and because he wanted to be in attendance.

“Help me understand why bringing President Obama’s half brother tonight — how does that help voters know who they want to elect as the next president of the United States,” Rhule asked Conway.

“That’s not right. He wanted to come and we’re happy to give him a ticket,” Conway said to the disbelief of the MSNBC host.

“You guys are friends with him?” Rhule asked.

“I’m not personally friends with him,” Conway said with a laugh.

“Donald Trump is friends with him?” Rhule followed up

“We’re very inclusive,” Conway responded. “He wanted to come and we’re happy to invite him.”

Malik Obama is one of two people slated to be guests of Trump at the debate, along with Patricia Smith, the mother of Sean Smith, one of the four individuals who perished at the terror attack in Benghazi. Smith alleges that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton lied to her, saying her son’s death was the result of an Internet video.

Smith has been an outspoken critic of Clinton’s, having spoken at the Republican National Convention in July, telling attendees that the former secretary of state “deserves to be in stripes.”
