Graham: Lucifer could beat Trump in November

Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham parried former House Speaker John Boehner’s comments comparing Sen. Ted Cruz to Satan by suggesting GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump is the candidate with the devilish general election problem.

“There’s been a lot of talk about Lucifer. I think Lucifer may be the only person Trump can beat in a general election,” the South Carolina senator said Sunday on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

Boehner attacked Cruz last week, calling him a “miserable son of a bitch” and vowing to block his bid for the Oval Office.

Graham a former presidential candidate, who once likened choosing between Cruz and Trump to deciding whether to be shot or poisoned, bashed the New York businessman for dividing Republicans.

Graham said Trump has forced the party to choice between conservatism and Trumpism, which has turned off voter groups the party needs.

“When it comes to women and Hispanics, Trump polls like Lucifer,” Graham added.

Graham claimed the party’s rallying around Trump will cost Republicans seats in both chambers of Congress this fall.
