Kanye West, the Grammy award-winning artist and failed 2020 presidential candidate, officially changed his name to Ye, according to a Monday ruling by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge.
The 44-year-old artist, known legally as Kanye Omari West, was granted the change despite containing neither a middle or last name, according to court documents.
“There being no objections, the petition for change of name is granted,” Judge Michelle Williams Court said.
KANYE WEST SELLING WYOMING RANCH FOR $11 MILLION
Ye first filed for the name change on Aug. 24, according to court documents, and the artist/fashion star has used the moniker as his Twitter handle since 2018, according to a report. He allegedly chose his new name because it is commonly referenced in the Bible, the report said.
In the religious text, the name is used as the plural form of “you,” and it commonly refers to an antiquated form of “the,” according to Merriam-Webster.

The name change comes in the wake of Ye’s divorce from Kim Kardashian West and the listing of his Wyoming ranch and other properties for $11 million, Fox reported.
