Washington, D.C., was ranked the #2 city in the nation for the number of commuters who bike or walk to work in a new study from the Alliance for Biking and Walking.
Boston took the top slot, and San Francisco, Seattle and New York followed D.C.
The District also was ranked the sixth-safest city in the nation for pedestrians and cyclists based on the number of fatal accidents. Boston, Minneapolis, Omaha, Neb., Seattle and Portland, Ore. were all safer than D.C.
Jacksonville, Fla., and Fort Worth, Texas, were the least safe cities.
