Prince George’s high school teacher accused of having sex with student

A Prince George’s County high school teacher has been accused of having sex with a 16-year-old female student at his Alexandria home, court documents said.

Mark Allen Jackson, born in 1966, is an ROTC instructor at Charles Herbert Flowers High School in Springdale. According to charging documents filed in Alexandria’s federal court, Jackson developed a “father-figure and friend” relationship with a 16-year-old student in one of his classes in September 2008. Their sexual relationship began in December when he started picking her up from her home in Maryland and taking her to his home in Alexandria.

No attorney information was listed for Jackson in court records.

Attempts to contact the Prince George’s County school system were unsuccessful. Phones were not answered and cell phone numbers listed for spokespeople had been disconnected.

In March, the girl’s mother, suspecting that an inappropriate relationship was taking place between her daughter and the teacher, placed a recorded telephone call to Jackson from the Fairfax County police department, court documents said. In the call, Jackson admitted to having sex twice with the girl, listed as “Jane Doe” in court documents.

Two days later, Jackson was interviewed by Fairfax County police, authorities said. During that interview, he reportedly told police that he was Jane Doe’s ROTC teacher and that he had taken her to his home on two occasions, but that he had sex with her during their first visit only, charging documents said.

Jackson was charged Thursday with transporting a minor across state lines for the purpose of an illicit sexual relationship. He is still listed on the Flowers High School Web site as a teacher.

Jackson is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 24.
