The leading pro-Hillary Clinton super PAC raised more than eight times the money raised by the premier political action committee supporting Donald Trump, according to new electoral filings.
Great America PAC, which is being led by former Ronald Reagan campaign manager Ed Rollins, brought in $1.4 million in May. The group’s largest donation came from New Jersey investor Douglas Kimmelman, who contributed $50,000.
Stanley Hubbard, a former member of the “Stop Trump” movement, was the second-largest donor to Great America PAC, as he contributing $25,000 in May. The remaining contributions were all for $5,400 or less.
Meanwhile, Priorities USA Action, the leading super PAC backing Clinton’s presidential bid, hauled in $12 million in May alone and had more than $50 million cash on hand heading into June.
It was the pro-Clinton group’s best month yet in terms of fundraising, according to the Washington Post, which reported that the PAC received a handful of six- and seven-figure contributions from liberal mega-donors and labor unions.
Great America PAC’s latest fundraising disclosure was filed hours after the group announced a six-figure ad buy in 10 battleground states over the next three weeks. The 60-second ad claims Trump is better fit to handle terrorism, following the recent mass shooting in Orlando.
