WATCH: Former Presidents Clinton and Bush visit Ukrainian church to show solidarity

Former Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush visited a Ukrainian church in Chicago on Friday to show solidarity for Ukraine amid its conflict with Russia.

The two came to Sts. Volodymyr and Olha Catholic Church toting sunflower bouquets, Ukraine’s national flower. They laid the flowers outside the church.

Chicago is also the sister city of Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv. More than 54,000 Chicago residents claim Ukrainian ancestry.

“America stands united with the people of Ukraine in their fight for freedom and against oppression,” Clinton said in a tweet.

“This is what we should expect from former Presidents,” one user tweeted.

“42 and 43. Two former presidents — acting together — show support for the people of Ukraine,” White House correspondent Kelly O’Donnell tweeted.

Bush’s father, the late George H.W. Bush, was president when the United States recognized Ukraine’s independence in 1991.
