Sen. Bill Cassidy on Monday compared President Trump’s public fight with Canada over trade to a fight between spouses that allows both sides to clear the air and fix the problem.
“Have you ever had a fight with your spouse?” the Louisiana Republican asked on CNN. “And in that fight, you just make a decision: OK, listen, things were said that I wish were not, but there’s an underlying issue that has to be addressed.”

Cassidy said Trump and other world leaders’ words should be ignored, and their actions should be looked at and taken more seriously.
“I think we as a western alliance need to address the issue [of trade],” Cassidy said.
Trump attended part of the G-7 summit the past few days where he met with other world leaders to discuss international issues.
However, after departing from the summit in Canada early to fly to Singapore for a meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau held a press conference that Trump called “dishonest.”
Trump responded to Trudeau’s statements by saying the U.S. would not endorse the communique released by the group.
