A man charged in connection with Wednesday’s siege on the Capitol died of suicide on Saturday.
Christopher Stanton Georgia died in his Georgia home of a gunshot wound to the chest, per a police report and Fulton County Medical Examiner finding, according to 11Alive News.
Two rifles were removed from Georgia’s home by police.
Superior Court of the District of Columbia documents cited by the outlet state that Georgia was charged with entering “certain property, that is, the United States Capitol Grounds, against the will of the United States Capitol Police.”
He allegedly stayed out past the area’s 6 p.m. curfew, and when authorities asked him and others to leave, he did not.
At least five individuals, including one Capitol Police officer, have died as a direct result of the Capitol riots. Another Capitol Police officer, Howard Liebengood, committed suicide on Saturday, but it’s unclear if his death was related to Wednesday’s violence.
