Trump campaign chief: ‘Comical’ to see Clinton demand transparency from FBI

Donald Trump’s campaign manager on Monday ripped Hillary Clinton’s sudden call for transparency, just days after the Democratic presidential hopeful demanded the FBI release further details about its reopened investigation into her private email server.

“We’re for transparency, and honesty, and immediacy, and full disclosure, and we think it’s comical that Hillary Clinton is now for that in the 11th hour,” Kellyanne Conway said during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

Conway had been asked whether FBI Director James Comey should have offered more context Friday when he sent a letter to congressional committee chairmen advising them that the bureau had discovered new material related to the Clinton email case.

Hours after Comey’s bombshell announcement, Clinton campaign chief John Podesta said the FBI head “owes it to the American people to immediately provide the full details of what he is now examining.”

“I think that the Clinton campaign knows they’re asking Jim Comey to do things and reveal things that he simply can’t do or say,” Conway said Monday. “This is not what the nature of investigations are.”

Conway encouraged the agency to “do what it wants to do” in terms of releasing information that may be pertinent to its renewed investigation. She admonished Clinton for criticizing the FBI and “engendering boos” for the bureau and Comey at her campaign rally on Sunday.

“Are we going to start asking if she’s going to accept the results if she loses?” Conway asked. “Are we going to start asking her if she’s inciting violence?”

A Politico/Morning Consult poll released Monday morning found that one-third of likely voters are less inclined to support Clinton in next Tuesday’s election after learning about the FBI’s decision.
