‘Democrats have lost their sanity’: GOP congressional committee chair warns of ‘constitutional crisis’ over impeachment

The chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee said that Democrats are plunging the country into a “constitutional crisis” with talks of impeachment.

“For the past three years, the socialist Democrats have been obsessed with impeaching the president and backfilling in the reason after the fact,” Minnesota Rep. Tom Emmer said Tuesday in a statement. “They have become so radicalized by their hatred of President Trump that they are willing to plunge the nation into a constitutional crisis based on secondhand gossip.”

“Democrats have lost their sanity and any remaining credibility with the American people. Make no mistake about it: backing impeachment will cost the Democrats their majority in 2020.”

The statement came shortly before House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced an impeachment inquiry against the president Tuesday evening. Trump told reporters Tuesday that any impeachment would be “a positive for me in the election.”

The push for impeachment of the president follows an anonymous whistleblower from the intelligence community filing a complaint that alleges Trump pressured the Ukrainian president into investigating Biden.
