Four people, including a 6-year-old child, were injured after a fire broke out in a Silver Spring apartment building just after sunrise Tuesday morning. One person, an adult male officials believe to be in his 60s, was taken to a burn center with life-threatening injuries.

Officials said the fire appeared to have started in the sixth floor of the Montgomery Towers Apartments at 415 Silver Spring Ave. Firefighters were dispatched shortly before 7 a.m., found fire and heavy smoke at the building, and called for additional units.
