KAMPALA, Uganda (AP) — Ugandan police forcibly entered the premises of an independent newspaper to look for evidence against an army general who recently questioned the president’s alleged plan to have his son succeed him, witnesses said Monday.

About 50 plainclothes police forced their way into the Daily Monitor’s premises in the capital, Kampala, and prevented all journalists from leaving, said Henry Ochieng, the newspaper’s political editor.
