MIAMI (AP) — A Coral Gables man is facing a 20 years behind bars for a drunk-driving wreck that killed a 13 year-old girl. Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Ellen Sue Venzer sentenced 40 year-old Sandor Guillen Friday. In March, Guillen was convicted of DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident involving a death.
During Friday’s hearing, Kaely Camacho’s 16 year-old sister Bree Ann described watching her sister dying in her father’s arms.
Prosecutors say Guillen was speeding in a Land Rover on U.S. 1 in April 2012 when he collided with the Camacho family’s minivan. Officials found Guillen in a nearby field. He told them he had been mugged by unknown attackers. He did not address the family during the sentencing. He had faced up to a 30 year sentence.
