The American businesswoman accused of having an affair with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson declined nine times to confirm or deny the rumors.
The alleged relationship occurred while Johnson was mayor of London and has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, a police watchdog, for a possible investigation into whether Johnson helped the former model secure public funds.
Jennifer Arcuri, 34, joined the mayor on several of his government-sponsored trade missions to Tel Aviv, New York, and Singapore, and was awarded tens of thousands of pounds in government funding.
Arcuri, who now lives in California, said Monday that Johnson visited her apartment, because when they tried to meet in public it became “too much of a mob show.”
“My Shoreditch office was literally on his way home, or on his way to any number of activities,” she told Good Morning Britain, explaining that her office was in her apartment.
She guessed that he visited her apartment anywhere from five to 10 times over the years and also disclosed that she had a pole in her apartment for dancing.
Arcuri was asked multiple times by the morning show hosts whether she had been in a romantic relationship with Johnson, 55, but she dodged repeated questions about the matter.
“Would you like me to ask about your sex life?” she said. “Because the press have made me this objectified ex-model pole dancer, I really am not going to answer that question. I am not going to be putting myself in a position for you to weaponize my answer.”
At the time of Arcuri and Johnson’s relationship, Johnson was married to his second wife, Marina Wheeler. The two separated in 2018 and have four children: Lara, 26, Milo, 24, Cassia, 22, and Theodore, 20. The prime minister also has a 10-year-old daughter, Stephanie, with Helen Macintyre, an art adviser with whom he had an affair.
Since his separation from Wheeler, Johnson has been dating Carrie Symonds, a 31-year-old senior adviser for the environmental group Oceana.
Johnson has a long history of infidelity. He had a four-year affair with journalist Petronella Wyatt in 2004. Wyatt said she later had an abortion.
In 2013, there were claims he had a sixth — and second illegitimate — child.
In late September, the Oversight Committee of the Greater London Authority gave Johnson two weeks to provide details on his relationship with Arcuri.
