Washington Commanders rookie running back Brian Robinson Jr. is recovering after being shot in an apparent carjacking, authorities said Sunday.
Metropolitan Police Department spokesman Dustin Sternbeck confirmed Robinson was the victim in a shooting incident that occurred shortly before 6 p.m. on the 1000 block of H Street Northeast. Sternbeck said Robinson was taken to the hospital to treat injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

The Commanders released a statement late Sunday on the incident.

“We have been made aware that Brian Robinson, Jr. was the victim of an attempted armed robbery or carjacking in Washington, D.C.,” the statement said. “He sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is currently being treated at the hospital, where Team officials are on-site with him. We ask that you please respect Brian’s privacy at this time.”
