Conservative commentator Ann Coulter, a fervent Donald Trump supporter for years, says she could support socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., for president.
On PBS’s “Firing Line with Margaret Hoover,” aired Wednesday, Coulter said she would consider working in a Sanders administration if the Democratic White House hopeful would return to his earlier stances on immigration.
“If he went back to his original position, which is the pro-blue-collar position. I mean, it totally makes sense with him,” she said. “If he went back to that position, I’d vote for him. I might work for him. I don’t care about the rest of the socialist stuff. Just — can we do something for ordinary Americans?”
Sanders in 2007 opposed a Senate immigration measure aimed at bringing in more low-skilled workers. Sanders opposed the proposal, warning his colleagues against passing legislation that would drive down wages for lower-income Americans, particularly in agriculture and manufacturing.
Coulter of late has been a critic of Trump on immigration, effectively accusing him of going soft.
