‘Modern Family’ creator announces plans to leave Fox

Steve Levitan, co-creator of Fox comedy “Modern Family,” announced his plans Tuesday of “setting up shop” outside of the mammoth production company, citing his revulsion with its association with Fox News.

On Monday, Levitan had decried the news network, and said he was “disgusted to work at a company that has anything whatsoever to do with @FoxNews.”

His tweet came in response to Fox News host Laura Ingraham’s comparing the migrant child border detention centers to “summer camps [or] boarding schools.”

In an earlier post on Twitter, Levitan had described conservative commentator Ann Coulter as the “face of pure evil.”

Levitan further noted that he had “no problem” with “fact-based conservatism,” offering the Wall Street Journal as an example, but that the news channel’s association with the “NRA, conspiracy theories, and Trump’s lies” was getting more difficult to accept as he makes “Modern Family” a “show about inclusion.”

Levitan isn’t the first from Fox to publicly lash out at the news network. Days ago, Seth MacFarlane, creator of popular Fox show “Family Guy,” also denounced Fox in outrage after Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson warned his viewers not to put faith in rival news networks. He subsequently announced his donation of $2.5 million to NPR.

“In other words, don’t think critically, don’t consult multiple news sources, and in general, don’t use your brain. Just blindly obey Fox News,” Macfarlane tweeted. “This is fringe shit, and it’s business like this that makes me embarrassed to work for this company.”

Levitan said he will allow “Modern Family” to run its course at the network, but will then seek to go elsewhere.
