WEST SENECA, N.Y. (AP) — A New York man who authorities say wore a Marine uniform to a county fair faces impersonation charges in two towns.
State police say 47-year-old Michael Schrenk of the Buffalo suburb of West Seneca wore the staff sergeant uniform to the August Erie County Fair on Veterans Appreciation Day, when military personnel got in to the Hamburg venue for free.
He’s charged with unlawfully wearing a military uniform and military rank.
He also faces charges in the town of West Seneca, where he’s accused of wearing a Department of Defense police officer uniform to public functions.
Authorities say Schrenk has never been in the Marines or the DOD police.
He couldn’t be reached for comment Thursday because a telephone listing in his name has been disconnected.
