If the president’s dismal stats hold up, the GOP may be looking at two more Senate pick-ups. After presidential stumping in Virginia, New Jersey, and Massachusetts produced nothing but Democratic losses (and Kentucky basketball has its bone to pick, too), the president is headed out on the road for two more in-danger Dems.
He’s scheduled to do a fund raiser for Majority Leader Harry Reid in Nevada, and things are already looking down for the duo, as Obama’s received a load of absolutely scathing local press since he knocked Vegas for the second time at a town hall as a symbol for profligacy.
The president will also do a fund raiser for Michael Bennett of Colorado in February, who was appointed to replace Ken Salazar when he became head of Interior.
“This will be a great opportunity to hear the President speak about the critical issues facing our country,” he added.
Will Obama’s appearance do the trick for the GOP in another purple state turned newly blue in 2008? It worked in Virginia.
Bennett was one of several moderate Democrats who asked mildly critical questions of the president during his question time with members of his own party yesterday.
