Tim Kaine = Ken Cuccinelli?

Well, no. But the World Wide Web would have you think so.

Try going to www.timkaine.com, and it re-directs you to www.cuccinelli.com, Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli’s campaign website.

Noah Wall, Cuccinelli’s political director, said that though their camp isn’t behind the re-direct, they do buy up domain names with Cuccinelli’s name, a fairly common practice in politics.

The domain is actually owned by self-described conservative activist Matt Chancey, according to the Post. Chancey registered the site in 2001 and later redirected visitors to Kaine’s lieutenant governor page. He told the Post he chose Cuccinelli’s site because he’s a “big fan” of the attorney general.

In any case Kaine, who is “increasingly likely” to run for U.S. Senate in 2012, may have to find another domain name for his campaign — should he decide to take the plunge.
