The Republican National Committee raised $105 million in 2015, marking its greatest annual fundraising haul in a year without a Republican in the Oval Office.
In December alone, the RNC raised $10 million, bringing its total haul so far this election cycle over $100 million. The committee now says it has $18.7 million cash-on-hand.
“Our record-breaking fundraising total is a testament to America’s enthusiasm to return a Republican to the White House,” RNC Chairman Reince Priebus said in statement released Sunday.
“Our success is made possible by so many willing to support our efforts and have enabled us to be the only organization with staff and resources in every battleground state, solely focused on the general election. Our fundraising consistently outpaces the Democratic National Committee, and will give our nominee an important advantage over the Democrats heading into the general election race later this year,” he added.
According to the RNC, 98 percent of individual contributions it received in 2015 were for $200 or less, with the average donation being $96. The committee ended last year with $1.8 million in debts and loans. The committee also claims it raised nearly $30 million more than the DNC in 2015, which reportedly ended the year with a total haul of $76.5 million.
