Trump: ‘I’m becoming mainstream’

Buffeted by his first endorsements from a sitting governor and now a senator, Donald Trump mused that he is “becoming mainstream.”

Speaking before an enormous rally in Alabama Sunday, the GOP front-runner got his first Senate endorsement from Alabama Republican Jeff Sessions, a hardline immigration foe.

“That is a biggie,” Trump said referencing Session’s endorsement.

The endorsement comes a few days after Trump received a nod from New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, which came as a surprise when it was announced on Friday. Maine Gov. Paul LePage and former Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer also backed Trump in recent days. Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican 2008 vice presidential nominee, was previously Trump’s highest profile endorser.

“I’m becoming mainstream,” Trump told the crowd. “All these people are now endorsing me.”

Alabama is one of 11 states that is voting on March 1, Super Tuesday. A majority of the states are located in the South.
