‘We don’t endorse those words’: Tucker Carlson calls offensive comments from former lead writer ‘wrong’

Tucker Carlson has publicly responded to the resignation of his lead writer who posted racist and sexist remarks online.

The Fox News host addressed Blake Neff’s departure during his show on Monday. Neff stepped down on Friday after it came to light that he had been secretly posting offensive comments online.

“What Blake wrote anonymously was wrong. We don’t endorse those words. They have no connection to the show. It is wrong to attack people for qualities they cannot control. In this country, we judge people for what they do, not for how they were born. We often say that, because we mean it. We will continue to defend that principle, often alone among national news programs, because it is essential. Nothing is more important. Blake fell short of that standard, and he has paid a very price for it,” Carlson said.

“But we should also point out to the ghouls now beating their chests in triumph at the destruction of a young man that self-righteousness also has its costs,” he continued. “We are all human. When we pretend we are holy, we are lying. When we pose as blameless in order to hurt other people, we are committing the gravest sin of all, and we will be punished for it. There’s no question.”

Neff posted repeatedly over a matter of years on a web forum called AutoAdmit. Just days ago, he responded to a thread titled “Would u let a JET BLACK congo n—– do lasik eye surgery on u for 50% off?” He also wrote, “I wouldn’t get LASIK from an Asian for free, so no.”

Neff once made fun of a woman he knew who made the decision to freeze her eggs, titling his thread, “Disaster: WuFlu outbreak endangers aging shrew’s quest to freeze eggs.” In 2016, he responded to a thread titled “Mary Poppins getting raped by a pack of wild n—–s at the park; kids watching” and another titled “DIKES get wrong C– at C–BANK. N—– pops out.”

Carlson’s show has become the highest-rated cable news program in America. Neff recently told Dartmouth Alumni Magazine, “Anything [Carlson is] reading off the teleprompter, the first draft was written by me.”
