Kimberly Guilfoyle slams ex-husband Newsom’s claims that she was a ‘different person’

Kimberly Guilfoyle, ex-wife of Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom and fiance to Donald Trump Jr, pushed back on comments made by her ex-husband about her political views, calling his governing “unrecognizable.”

In a Feb. 9 episode, Newsom was asked about his divorce from Guilfoyle on CNN’s “The Axe Files” podcast and how the couple was on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar in September 2004, calling them “The New Kennedys.”

Newsom expressed unhappiness about how the photo spread went for the magazine and shared how his ex-wife was “a different person” when they were married. The couple married in 2001 and divorced in 2006.

“She was working for a progressive district attorney,” he told David Axelrod. “We were close to Kamala [Harris], she knew her well, and she was spending a lot of time in Democratic circles.”

Guilfoyle, who filed for divorce in 2005, responded to questions about Newsom’s claims on “The Charlie Kirk Show” on Wednesday.

“I got this story sent to me about, like, 57 times last night,” she told Kirk.

She said she’s been a Republican for a long time.

She continued to respond, “Gavin knows this. I didn’t change. He did.”

“He used to be so proud to fight for small businesses, for entrepreneurs, for those hardworking men and women. And he’s fallen prey to the Left, the radical left that is pushing him so far to the left that it’s unrecognizable,” said the conservative commentator.

Guilfoyle added, “This is somebody who was a small-business owner who worked very hard to try to bring those jobs and energy to San Francisco and not penalize people with small businesses.”

She went on to slam her ex-husband for “destroying” small businesses and how his policies were having people “fleeing that state.”

In the interview with Axelrod, Newsom suggested the unraveling of their relationship was “her ambition.”

“She had her ambition, I just got elected mayor [of San Francisco], and days after I was elected mayor, she moved to New York for a Court TV gig, and then eventually Ailes at Fox,” he said.

Newsom noted earlier in the podcast interview that his own father’s political ambitions got in the way of his parents. Guilfoyle started appearing on Fox News as a legal analyst in 2004, around the time he became mayor of San Francisco.

He went on to explain how she was an ambitious lawyer who was “whip-smart” and had “a prosecutorial mindset,” but it was “her pride” and “ambition” that led her into the Fox world.

“She fell prey, I think, to the culture at Fox in a deep way,” he said.

On Kirk’s podcast, Kirk asked Guilfoyle about Newsom’s ambitions as he described him as “more ambitious than Lucifer.” Kirk went on to ask whether she thinks the governor will eventually run for president.

“Do I think? I know he’s going to run for president,” she responded. “He’s always wanted to be president of the United States. He worked, obviously, his way up from city council to board of supervisors — multiple races — and then to governor of California. You know, this is something that he wants very badly, and I’ll tell you something. I think you are going to see Gavin Newsom versus Donald J. Trump running against each other for president. Father-in-law and ex-husband.”

Guilfoyle said she was proud to serve as a San Francisco prosecutor and as the former first lady of San Francisco.

Newsom is rumored to be planning a 2024 presidential run but reportedly has told the White House that he will not challenge President Joe Biden in 2024.
