The National Park Service has rounded out the program for the lighting of the National Christmas Tree on Dec. 6, announcing Tuesday that Broadway star Brad Oscar (“The Producers”) will play Santa Claus.

He joins country singer Sara Evans, 15-year-old classical artist Holly Stell, 12-year-old Broadway star Julian Ivey and the U.S. Air Force Band.

An NPS spokesman emphasized that Oscar is not replacing the “King of Country Gospel,” Porter Wagoner, who was slated to perform until his death in late October.

“No one can replace Porter Wagoner,” said the spokesman. “[Oscar] will play Santa Claus, which is a very different role than Wagoner would have played.”
