The hosts of The View argued about Hillary Clinton accusing 2020 presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard of being a Russian asset.
The recent spat between Gabbard and Clinton began last week when the former secretary of state accused Gabbard of being groomed by Moscow for a third-party spoiler run to ensure President Trump’s reelection. The Hawaii representative hit back at Clinton multiple times, including calling her “the queen of warmongers” and accusing her of being the “embodiment of corruption.”
“I mean for me, honestly, Hillary’s been dead-on with so many things. She told us about Russia, she told us about the probable interference during the debate. She was secretary of state. She has deep knowledge about world issues. I thought, where’s the lie?” Sunny Hostin stated. “I have often said that Tulsi is sort of the Trojan horse in this … she’s never renounced the Russian support.”
Joy Behar echoed her support for the 2016 Democratic presidential candidate and criticized how Gabbard responded to the attacks.
“She tweeted back and called Hillary a warmonger, OK?” Behar said. “So, that does not do anything for me. She hasn’t denied it. She hasn’t said anything in her tweets, ‘How dare you? It’s outrageous. Of course, I’m not.’ She didn’t say that. She’s just going after Hillary, and like you said, Hillary was right about almost everything.
“I don’t say that Tulsi is an agent. I just think that she could be a useful idiot the way Trump is a useful idiot to the Russians. That they see something. They say, ‘Oh look, a useful idiot. Let’s play this,'” she continued.
Abby Huntsman, however, defended the Hawaii congresswoman and attacked Clinton for the claim.
“I read this completely differently. I think for Hillary Clinton, one, she sounded like she had still an ax to grind in 2016. If you have played the political game for so many years, how can you be this clueless? Because she, in those comments, saying that Tulsi Gabbard is being groomed by the Russians. It makes her sound complicit with the Russians,” Huntsman responded.
After attacking the former secretary of state multiple times, Gabbard sidestepped the controversy while at a presidential forum on Sunday when she asked, “What could be more patriotic than working together?”
