There’s no place like home
Police in Gwinnett County, Ga., say 23-year-old Charles Byrd drove — drunk — without a driver’s license. When officers pulled him over, they said, he jumped out of the car and ran home. The officers that had been chasing him followed.
Byrd should have run somewhere else. Police said his home was a marijuana-growing greenhouse, and officers confiscated plants worth more than $327,000.
Now Byrd is being held without bond at his new home: the Gwinnett County Detention Center.
Grandma did a bad, bad thing
A 74-year-old Canadian woman was arrested as she tried to enter the United States, and officials discovered she had an outstanding warrant. The warrant was for marijuana possession — and was issued in 1980.
So Homenella Cole was busted and extradited to New York City, where she will face a charge of possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.
Where art thou, Juliet?
A 24-year-old Florida man was determined to reunite with his wife, from whom he had been separated four days.
Police say the man, clearly intoxicated, removed an air conditioning window unit from the house where she was staying and climbed in. His frightened wife called 911.
The man allegedly told officers that he was there because he “has not gotten any in three weeks and was going to get some.”
What Romeo got was a ride to jail.
