Jim Zorn knows what might happen. He’s also making plans the unexpected happens — and he stays.

“Then, when and if I get clipped in the side, at least what I’ve done is prepared in every possible way to go into the offseason,” Zorn said. “It’s not difficult at all. It really is healthy. It is sane and it is not worrisome. That’s what I do and I owe it to our staff and owe it to everything that we do, my whole makeup.”
So he’s taking the approach that he’ll be here until he’s told otherwise.
“Absolutely,” he said. “I’ve expressed this to everyone around. I don’t keep saying it, I’ve just expressed it. My feeling is I’m here for the next 10 years. That’s what I want. And yet all the speculation is … I’ll get clipped. But that’s not my worry. My concern is the football team and how we go into the offseason. That’s why we had weigh-in and still had weightlifting and still get treatment.”
…From the learn something new department: Santana Moss is part Indian. His mom’s side of the family is part Cherokee, Moss said. Found that out because Zorn had a spear made for Moss, complete with a few feathers and beads, as a sign of his appreciation for the receiver’s efforts this season.
Zorn told the team that Moss kept playing and working hard despite not having the production he wanted and that he showed the team what a “true player” should be about.
“I appreciate it,” Moss said. “Sometimes you don’t think about it that way because it’s your job. But I appreciate someone recognizing my efforts.”
Moss said it’ll go into his game room.
“Since I’m Indian anyway, it’ll probably go well in my house,” he said.
…Edwin Williams will start at right guard Sunday. Williams started one game this season, vs. Philadelphia. He played better as a backup in the first meeting vs. Dallas. But he was not very good vs. the Eagles. The Redskins had worked Paul Fanaika at right guard this week, but he was not yet ready.
…Injured right guard Randy Thomas said retirement is not an option for him.
“I’ve got a few more in me,” he said. “I’m always going to fight until I tell myself enough is enough.”
But considering his age (he turns 34 this month) and the fact that he’s missed 27 games the past three years.
“It’s a business, I know how it goes,” he said.
