A Maryland judge dismissed first lady Melania Trump’s libel lawsuit against British news outlet the Daily Mail over a story alleging the former model had been an escort in the 1990s.
Montgomery County Maryland Circuit Judge Sharon Burrell ruled Thursday to dismiss the lawsuit against the corporation that publishes the Daily Mail’s website, the AP reported.
Trump is also suing the Daily Mail in London.
Trump’s libel suit against Maryland blogger Webster Tarpley was allowed to move forward last week.
In August, the Daily Mail published a story questioning Mrs. Trump’s past romantic relationships, her modeling career and immigration story. The news outlet cited a story from Trump’s native Slovenia that said the modeling agency she worked for doubled as an escort service.
Several outlets retracted and apologized for repeating the Daily Mail’s claims.
Tarpley also published a retraction and apology on his blog, and the Daily Mail removed the story from its website.
