Chelsea Handler spends July Fourth apologizing to the world: Most Americans are ‘ashamed’ of Trump

Comedian Chelsea Handler issued an apology writ large on Independence Day for the election of President Trump, saying a majority of Americans were “ashamed” of the president.

“To every country on the 4th of July. We’re sorry about our president. He doesn’t reflect all of our views—and we hope you know that the majority of us are ashamed,” Handler wrote on Twitter on Wednesday.

“We will rally each other and come back to the world one step at a time,” she added, using a hashtag referring to the 2018 midterm elections and another apologizing for hot dogs.

Handler disbanded her “Chelsea” late-night talk show on Netflix in October to focus on becoming a “more knowledgeable and engaged citizen” under Trump.

While RealClearPolitics’ polling aggregate indicates about 43 percent of Americans approve of the job Trump is doing as president, as of Wednesday 52 percent disapprove.
