The Scottish government is forcing President Trump to pay the legal fees of a lengthy court battle over a wind power project won by the government.
A panel of judges in Scotland have ruled the company that owns the golf course, Trump International Golf Club Scotland Ltd, will have to pay the undisclosed legal fees of the 2015 court case lost by Trump.
The wind power project consisted of building 11 massive wind turbines on a plot of land adjacent to Trump’s golf course in Scotland, the Trump Aberdeen. While Trump was running for president in the 2016 primaries, he sued the Scottish government in an attempt to halt the project, citing concerns of the wind turbines disturbing the view and ambiance of the gold course.
The showdown between Trump and the wind project developers made its way to the U.K. Supreme Court. There, judges rejected Trump’s case against the Scottish government, giving the green light for the project to move forward.
Trump tweeted about his Aberdeen golf course Saturday. “Very proud of perhaps the greatest golf course anywhere in the world. Also, furthers U.K. relationship,” Trump tweeted.
