The cops will now hunt you down for offensive costumes this Halloween

Tufts University is on a warpath against offensive Halloween costumes on campus. And this time, the police could get involved.

In a letter obtained from the university by The College Fix, members of Tufts’ Greek system have been told they could face “serious disciplinary sanctions” for wearing Halloween costumes that may “appropriate cultures and reproduce stereotypes on race, gender, sexuality, immigrant or socioeconomic status.”

They’re also banning “outfits relating to tragedy, controversy, or acts of violence.”

Mary Pat McMahon, the Dean of Student Affairs, is threatening a range of consequences, one of them is a police investigation.

The letter states: “‘The range of response for students whose actions make others in our community feel threatened or unsafe, or who direct conduct towards others that is offensive or discriminatory, includes [Office of Equal Opportunity] and/or [Tufts University Police Department] investigation and then disciplinary sanctions from our office that could run a wide gamut depending on what is brought to our attention and the impact of these actions on others. Any complaints will result in full investigation by University officials and could result in serious disciplinary sanctions through Judicial Affairs.'”

So, in addition to creating Halloween safe spaces, Leftists are getting the police, who most of them despise, to enforce their censorship agenda.

Granted dressing up in blackface, as an Indian chief, or a Mexican is racist, getting the police department (a branch of government) to infringe on your freedom of expression is problematic.

Who decides what’s offensive and what passes the social justice litmus test?

Tufts University is setting a dangerous precedent. And what better way to get people to dress up in offensive Halloween costumes than telling them to stop wearing offensive Halloween costumes?

Well done, Tufts.
