It didn’t take long for Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump to direct a new insult at Ted Cruz Tuesday, less than 24 hours after he’d congratulated the Texas senator on his victory in Iowa’s Republican caucus.
Trump, who finished second in the Monday night nominating contest and was nearly overtaken by Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, likened Cruz to 2004 Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean on Twitter Tuesday. The billionaire compared Cruz’s lengthy victory speech Monday night to Dean’s infamous scream during his post-caucus speech in 2004. The tantrum-like moment became known as the “Dean Scream,” and spurred widespread speculation that it contributed to the end of Dean’s campaign.
Anybody who watched all of Ted Cruz’s far too long, rambling, overly flamboyant speech last nite would say that was his Howard Dean moment!

In addition to criticizing Cruz, Trump slammed the media for “unfair” post-caucus coverage in a series of tweets Tuesday. The New York businessman, who is scheduled to hold a press conference before his rally Tuesday evening in New Hampshire, told his Twitter followers they can expect him to discuss his “wonderful experience in Iowa and the simultaneous unfair treatment by the media” during both events.
A spokeswoman for Cruz’s campaign did not return the Washington Examiner’s request for comment.
