Cheney: A consistent comedian

Dick Cheney. Love or hate the guy, one thing is for sure: The man needs some new jokes.

Loyal followers of the veep (there still are some left, right?!?) might notice that the Great Hunter repeats the

same joke over and over again when addressing crowds: “Thank you very much. With a welcome like that, it’s almost enough to make me want to run for office.”

Chuckles.

“Almost, almost.”

More chuckles. (Of course, for those not enamored with Cheney, it’s more nervous laughter than anything.)

Proving that politicians are nothing if not redundant, the man once referred to by Sen. Hillary Clinton as “Darth Vader” has used the opener no less than 20 times since May 2006, according to our count.

Before then, Cheney could often be heard responding to “2008!” chants with a “Not on your life,” so perhaps age has softened this curmudgeon’s outlook on politics.
